How Furbies are Going
to Invade the World

Furbies are coming back again in 2012 for more hugs, emotions and fun. Let's see what these little plush robots can do.

3 new Furbies

These robotic pets are already famous for everyone but the youngest. They first appeared in 1998, came back in 2005 and have sold more than 40 million units over the first few years alone.

The new version has expressive eyes and the ability to change personality depending on how you treat (or mistreat) them. Beware of the evil Furby!

What Can They Do?

The new Furbies have LCD eyes with many expressions. They are used to show your personal robot's overall mood, but also to make cartoon like animations when they eat something too spicy, for example.

They can also dance to the sound of music, speak with you (although they do not "understand" you), giggle when you touch their belly, or scream at you when you pull their tail.

Also, if you start putting several of your new robotic pets together, they will start chatting together, sing and dance together!

Finally, they can communicate with your iPhone using ultrasound. You can feed them special food, spicy piments, dirty socks and even your homework (now you can really say "My pet ate my homework"!!). You can also translate what your robotic friends say with the live translator.

Check out the video to see how it all comes together.

Different Colors, Different Furs

Furbies have two different types of fur, depending on the colour you choose. Some of them have spiky but soft tufts of hair. The others have shorter hair closer to the body, which gives an overall softer impression.

They come in many different colors, as can be seen in the widget below. Sorry I can't count them all!

Different Personalities

The Evil Furby

The little plush robots can change personality. They all start from the baby personality, and then change to different ones, with different behaviors depending on how you play with them.

The only way to go back to the baby phase is to open the battery case and push the reset button.

Here are the 4 personalities: the rock-star, the lady, the crazy and the evil Furby. If you know any other one, please leave me a comment at the bottom of the page!
