I am implementing Flash Cards on Nao robot to create a future robot teaching assistant.
With this application, Nao can help you learn and review vocabularies (for example). Here is a video of the first demo application as I explain how it works.
Did you like it? It is still a little buggy, and I have a list of things to improve quickly. However it is a good start for my application to build upon.
As I try to explain in the video, Nao is not simply to teach me 3 words at a time. Everytime the application starts, it creates a list of 3 new words + any word that should be reviewed today.
Each time I answer a question right, I will have to review it in 2 days the first time, and it doubles every time I get it right (4 days, 8 days...). If I get it wrong, the time doesn't double. It's inspired by the software Anki, that I used to learn Japanese vocabulary.
This application may develop into a teaching assistant or daily coach that can help you learn lessons for school, remind you of your daily tasks, and even be used as a to-do list. The basis will always be kind of the same, it's just a matter of adapting it a little each time.
Children would love to have a robot companion that can both be a serious teacher and a fun play pal. I think the Nao robot would be perfect for this kind of applications.
I would love that you share your ideas on how to make this application better, and what you would like it to do later. So use the comment form below and tell me!
