Back to Back Issues Page new design and basics of robot building,
November 25, 2012

I am sorry I haven't written to you for a long time. I have started my first job, then I graduated for my Master in Robotics... It's been a busy summer. On the bright side, I am now officially a professional roboticist!

But now I am back, and I started by upgrading the website design. I would love to hear your feedback on this. Check it out now!

Also, I have added a few new features on the website. You can know add comments to any page using the Facebook comment box at the bottom of the page.

Finally, have you checked the new section about building a robot?

The first part is about how to choose the right robot for you:

Choose your first robot, according to what you want to learn.

Robot arm kits are good starters.

Remote control robots are a good way to focus on mechanical design first.

The second part is about the basics of building and programming a robot:

The different kinds of robotic sensors you can use.

The 3 main categories of motors you will need.

Some tips on finding free supplies to build robots.

Basics of robot programming, including the very useful state machines.

A short explanation on what simulation software can do.

Enjoy reading this section in the new design!

For next week: Furbies have invaded my home and workplace! A preview on my Youtube channel...

As always, you can also send me your feedback, just answer to this e-mail and copy these questions, or just type your comment:
  1. Did you like these Robot Tips?
  2. What would you like to read about in the next Robot Tips?
  3. Would you recommend the Robot Tips to your friends?

, I really care about what you have to say. I write these mails for you, so your feedback can only make it better.
